Ezra Haddad
Ezra Haddad paints faces, mostly women's, broken into shards of pure colour: magenta across a cheek, turquoise in the shadow of an eye, lemon yellow where the light falls. Raised in Beirut and trained in Paris, he is fascinated by how much colour a face can hold before it stops being a likeness.
He works in oil, fast and wet, laying each colour down once and leaving it untouched, so the strokes stay bright and separate. The result is loud and tender at once: a face that seems lit from inside. He has lived in the Algarve since 2021.
